Finally found my great grandparents on a passenger list to Canada. They went in May 1920 and my great grandfather died in February 1921. According to his death certificate, he was already ill when he emigrated. Its a wonder he was allowed to.

Carol, Thanks so much for this thread. (I should really be decorating in the little bedroom, but thought I would have a quick look at the boards.) I have been searching for Great Uncle Matt for years. I knew he went to Canada, I have a picture of him and his family there from the 1920s. This morning, with these new additions, I have found him on route to Canada in December 1923. I now have the proof to add to the records. Off to search for Great Uncle Bertie now - I have a picture of him in Australia, and will find him eventually. Off to happily emulsion now! Elisabeth PS Found Bertie! Off he went in 1926. I can't imagine what the journey would have been like with a wife, and children 5, 3, 2 and a 4 month old. They must have been so happy to land in Australia!

My brother just called in, so I proudly showed him my morning's finds. He pointed out that amongst our inherited collection of about 800 photos, which he has scanned and shared with all the family, there is a photo of SS Vedic. We never knew why we had it, but it has become clear. Our Grandad must have gone off to say farewell to his younger brother Bertie, and bought the picture at the time. Another little bit in the jigsaw in place! (Still haven't put the roller in the emulsion, but everywhere ready - perhaps I will wait until after lunch now!)
