I love being described as a genuis, but I only searched on his first name, year of birth and birthplace. The rest was pure luck and I hope it is correct! Kay |

It is far from the first time I have been left open mouthed at how members manage to find the unfindable. Having looked at the census - oh dear - it reminds me of school and the detentions I was given for poor writing in copper plate. lol Clive |

Clive, I think the deciphering of handwriting members do on this site is so very helpful, but unravelling that one was the work of a genius. Kathlyn |

Well it puts George in the right area and that weird name does not appear anywhere else - thank you. Snow White - my best wishes for you on Tuesday. Clive |

In 1861 George Cattermole was a good little boy of 18 living with his parents in his birth place of Sweffling, Suffolk. In 1871 George was in hiding. In 1881 George Cattermole was a boarder with the Pollard family in St Leonards, Shoreditch where he described himself as a carpenter. Sarah Ann Pollard was Head and married with some children. In 1991 George was Widower (Oh yes?) and the children were now called Cattermole. George now says he is a cornice pole maker (that's my reading!). Sarah Ann is no longer around. Where was George Cattermole in 1871? Can anyone find a marriage of him to Ann Pollard? Clive |
