As you now know the ships name you may get lucky and the ships log is at Kew. I got the ships log there for my grandad who was lost at sea in 1911 .failing that then some Merchant Navy records are held in Newfoundland, it will cost tho for the search

James Long died age 22 in the GRO Marine Deaths indices 1923 ship name Melita entry in Page 54. He would be Merchant Navy. Good luck. Keith

I have a great uncle lost at sea 1922. He was James Long born Liverpool 11th December 1901 to James and Mary Long nee Moran. That is all I know. How can I find out about the circumstances of his death. Was he in the navy etc. Help please.
