Hi Mandy, Sorry I missed your post until now. Can you tell me when you connect to broadband. Then you go into a website like genes reunited, then you want to view another site, does you Orange broadband have to connect/reconnect again?? Betty

Oh Tracey, With Orange this happens every time you need to go into a website or onto your e-mails. Betty

Betty and Tracy, Im with BT broadband and been having problems for the last week or so, it keeps losing the connection, the same problem you seem to be having with orange, I spent a while on the phone with the BT technician this week, set everything back up again and for 5 minutes it was ok then my connection became intermitent again, I never used to have these problems with the old pay as you go/ anytime packages, I dont know about you but i sometimes feel that the 'new updated' version of anything never seems to work as well as the original.!! Hi Nicky, You may well be correct but I think Orange took over from Wanadoo and then started offering these cheap packages ie mobile phone, television sky and broadband, it hasn't been the same since. If you phone then you are connected to India, and I am sorry but I just can't understand what they are saying. Orange was voted the worst broadband company by the BBC. Betty

Hi Betty, yes I used to be with Wanadoo that were taken over by Orange, but unfortunatly BT broadband is the same, you are connected to India and I like you, struggle to understand what theyre saying , I seem to spend the whole conversation saying 'im sorry ,could you repeat that please' It means I only contact the helpline when im desperate, and the whole point of changing to Broadband was to speed the whole process up, I must admit when my contract is up i wont be signing with BT again, I really dont think im getting good value for money, so if anyone can 'big up' their broadband company i would be intrested to hear about it. Hi Nicky, My cousin's daughter had a problem with her broadband recently and her computer crashed. She is with Ya(hoo) and its all british people who helped her sort things out on the phone. She said they took her call, then phoned her back so she didn't have to pay for the call either. She was on the phone for 2 hours. Betty

I'm an Orange customer, and have never had a moment's trouble with the service. It has worked faultlessly for months at a time (I have been continuously connected, right now, for example for over nine months).

We use Orange and it has always been fine. The only gripe is that bandwidth drops at busy times, but this is down to the local BT capacity as on talking to friends it happens to them all irrespective of which ISP they use.

Betty, The difference between broadband and dial up (apart from speed that is) is that broadband is always connected, there is no connecting and reconnecting. Moving between sites does not cause anything to reconnect. In fact you can be connected to several sites all at the same time and switch effortlessly between each,
