	Hi Kath No, your response does help. I actually started researching (family tree) when I was in college in the 1970's, and I remember sending letters to everyone. I just thought travel would have been more difficult then, BUT, she did have a family bible, so perhaps it would have been easier for her than me! (Unfortunately, I do not have her research - we just 'know' that the family originally came from Holland.) Thank you for your response. It helps confirm it was possible.

	I would imagine that she would use parish records in much the same way as we do now, only without the aid of computers, possibly visiting parish priests in Ireland. There is no reason to believe she is any less accurate than we are today - we are all only human and can make mistakes. Sorry, I know this isn't much help to you. Kath. x

	According to my mum, in the early 1930's her aunt became interested in their ancestors and started looking for family in Ireland....The aunt was a missionary and travelled 'around the world'...Would anyone know how one researched back then? And, would her findings possibly be correct?
