This little site is worth looking at. It has a facility to compare different suppliers, based on the feedback that users have provided. http://www.thinkbroadband*com/ (replace * etc)

Betty Hunh? I haven't had to change my email address? I am still with h*tmail and still access my emails through them. Are we at cross purposes here? I am talking about who provides me with the facility to get onto the internet. Are you talking about things like Internet Explorer etc,? OC

Hi OC, I would have though BT would have been the best as they are such a big company, just goes to show. My main problem is when you have to change your e-mail address, all your family and friends would need to be contacted, all my banks, all my shopping delivery people, and more I haven't even thought about yet. Oh yes, Clive is right - Pipex do three levels and I am on the cheapest, and that is the slowest broadband. Doesnt bother me one bit though, it is fast enough for me, and one MILLION times faster than the old dial up. My daughter works for BT and would not recommend their broadband, either for performance or backup help! OC

Clive Report 30 Jun 2007 23:05

self and two sons (and we need reliable broadband for business use.) The least satisfactory is BT by along way. Pipex, Demon and NTL are far better (but NTL has its moments out here in the sticks!) By the way watch BT - they have a nasty habit of charging extra if you have more than one computer. With Pipex I think you need to watch the bandwidth allowance - think about what you use the net for. If you kids (or OH?) stream music or videos you need a lot of bandwidth in the price. Clive

BT broadband has several price levels. All but the basic come with Norton antivirus and other goodies included in the price with downloadable updates from BT. Anne

Im still on talktalk - if you are lucky you get broadband free - depends on your local area exchange - on top of that ALL my UK calls are free and some abroad calls are free. For a comparison chart see Martin Lewis' money saving expert website.

Unfortunatley NTL/Virgin isnt an option for me, as we have no cable in our area, go 5 miles east or west and your fine, but we're stuck in the middle.!, so we have a good old fashioned sky dish, have heard their internet is very good, so may try them next time, but Pipex who OC recommended sound good Nicky

Betty Sorry, it is now called Pipex, I forgot! Broadband is £12.50 a month IF you take it as part of a phone package, which I have done. Unlimited 24/7 landline calls Line rental Broadband Total, with VAT is £35 per month. Only drawback was that it took almost a month to set up - may be quicker now. Google PIPEX for more info. OC

Hi OC, Never heard of Homecall Broadband, which network is this, just wonder if we can get it in Scotland, and how much is cheap? Betty

Hi All I'll be very interested in this thread, as we're due to move home shortly, and as we're currently with NTL cable (or Virgin, as it is now) I welcome comments from others. We're moving to Scotland, and there'll be no cable so will have to have a BT line, I assume. All suggestions will be welcome! The main priority is to have broadband set up asap, so if anyone can inform on who would be fastest, I'd appreciate it. Many thanks. Will get back asap, but maybe tomorrow. Patricia
