Selina Cattermole (Yes THAT family again) was born 25 Feb 1852 in Sweffling, Suffolk At various time she appeared as Selena, Sirlinar and Selina. She married a man named Edward Perryman who in 1891 showed himself as married. Edward Perryman would seem to be friendly towards the Cattermole tribe as a member was with him at death in 1901. Selina was buried in Stowmarket on 12 February 1894. What was she doing in Stowmarket you may well ask. The cemetery records says she was a housekeeper. The death certificate just says wife of Edward. Where was she for the 1891 census please????!! Clive |

Hi Clive I think you might be right with this one!!!! What was the address on the certificate where she died, and did Edward register her death? Maureen |

Address at death was The Bell Inn, Stowmarket. Death was registered by a Bell Inn servant. Death Certificate signed by 2 doctors. Cause of death pneumonia. Weather statistics for the time show it was bitterely cold with snow showers! Clive |

Just been checking these names and their marriage seems to be in 1876 in Plomesgate.. although in 1881 census it gives them as having a daughter Bessy age 10... also there is a death for Edward in 1900 in Plomesgate too... age 64. |

You don't know half of it! Selina did mary Edward as stated but what you have not noticed that his previous wife was Selina's aunt. The 'daughter' was Selina's and in true Cattermole fashion she forgot to note the father's name (following her own mother's example may I say!) Yes Edward did die in 1900. Present at death was the wife of Selina's step uncle. Selina's gran having had a child before marriage! Daughter Bessie was baptised Elizabeth Charlotte. She appears to have done was is called today divorced her family when she became 21 in 1891. I would like to know why Selina was in Stowmarket. Could it just possibly Bessie and mother were still talking to each other? Clive |

Hi Clive In 1881 the innkeeper at The Bell in Stowmarket was a John Aldous, living with his wife and several teenage children. In 1891 John Aldous is still living in Stowmarket although it does not state that it is the Bell Inn but his neighbour Henry Riley from 1881 is still living next door in. The only other person living with John Aldous is a Selina Mc Kay age 36 born Twickenham Middx who is his housekeeper. What do you think? Just a coincidence that her name was Selina. Maureen |

The death certificate shows her age as 39 which would more or less tie in the the woman you suggest. Dunno ! Clive |
