Sorry Scarlet. I've updated original message to include the info you questioned. Your idea about them taking on another name could be the case. I've also thought along those lines. But I also wonder that at some stage they would have needed their birth certs which show their birth details.....it's puzzling. Deb:) |

if they were left with a foster family for any lemgth of time, it is higly likely ( or as least possible) that they assumed the surname of the foster family ( they may have known no different). Again, if left fostered with no contact with mother - which you dont say - they may well have been adopted. Not sure what ' Not Grandmas way' actually means. |

Hello, I'm trying to trace two close living relatives. I've withheld their names for reasons of privacy but I can tell you that they were born in Liverpool S in 1943 and 1944. My grandmother had 4 children in all. A boy in 1938 Liverpool S shortly after her marriage in the same place. My mother in Bangor Wales in 1940 and then a girl in Liverpool in 1943, followed by a boy in Liverpool in 1944. My grandmother left her first two children to be raised by relatives and a foster family so in all likelihood, she did the same with the younger two. I've been able to trace and contact the eldest son but have had no luck with the younger siblings. Other members on this site were able to give me contact details from electrol roll listings for them and letters were sent off 6 weeks ago. I've not had a reply from any of them. My next line of thought is that the younger two emmigrated or were adopted, although this wasn't my grandmother's way (she had a habit of leaving her children with relatives or foster families. She seemed to avoid going through legal proceedures. She also had no contact with the older children once she left). Please add your thoughts and ideas on this matter. I've found through experience that other peoples ideas seem to pay off. Deb:) |
