John, I don't know much about this, but if you have anything like an electoral roll in Australia, it'd be worthwhile entering their names? If they were adopted by a step father, the records will be held somewhere. You personally might not be able to access them, but with proof of who you are, brief details may be given, even if its only a location. And register on Australia's Friends Reunited, in case theyre looking for you. |

John just like you we are restricted by privacy laws, so the 1901 census is the latest you can view for the UK, the 1911 census is due to be released in 2012 but there is talk of an earlier release date. Georgina. |

The only census record for 20th century which can be accessed is 1901. The UK operates a 100-year closure on censuses. You can, however, access all England/Wales bmd's.........they are free on the Ancestry website. Reg |

Pardon me if this is a silly question - but how can I access(from Australia) early 20th century British census records? Thank you Also I wonder if anyone has a solution to this problem - my father had 2 children from his first marriage (Sydney Australia 1943) he had no contact with them after his divorce and he married my mother in 1955. I would very much like to find what happen to my half-sister and brother but because of privacy laws I can't access recent birth, death or marriage records. I have uncovered my father's first wife's 2nd marriage certificate but have no luck on that name either. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I may be able to find them? Thank you in advance Sandra |
