Maureen Would it be possible, if you have the time, to find Josiah too? For some reason I cannot get this section on Ancestry either, have been trying last couple of days, but it does seem Folios 80 and 81 seem to be entirely missing from their records Possibly he may be down as 'Joseph' rather than Josiah

Certainly looks like him Maureen. His wife Charlotte died 1887, so possible he remarried I suppose, the Elizabeth 11 being a stepdaughter through this new wife?

Thanks Sue. I suppose quite possible they moved to Bethnal Green between 1891-1893. May have still been up the road Aldgate/Whitechapel area. I only have an Ancestry subscription, and can't for the life of me find them on there.

Sorry.....not at 18 or 36 Hare Street in 1891. Sue

To be honest I think being poor people they moved around a fair bit on the same street. The number on the marriage certificate is different from the one on the birth certificate of their first child just a year later, though both Hare Street. So they could be anywhere there. The earliest adress I have (1893) was 18 Hare Street, the latter one (1894) 36 Hare Street.

An address search can be done on findmypast, but it shows up 99 results. Do you know what number in Hare Steet? Sue

My 3xgreat grandfather. Cannot find him in 1891. Below is his info on 81 an 01. 1881 Census: 12 Corbets Court, Spitalfields, Tower Hamlets 1. John Tomkins, head, mar, 44, Boot Closer, Northampton 2. Charlotte Tomkins, wife, mar, 44, Northampton 3. John Tomkins, son, un, 16, Fan Handle Maker, Whitechapel Middlesex 4. Josiah Tomkins, son, 14, Errand Boy, Aldgate Middlesex 5. Frederick Tomkins, son, 11, Scholar, Aldgate Middlesex ----------- 1901 Census: Bethnal Green East Workhouse, Middlesex 1. John Tomkins, inmate, widower, 65, market porter, Northampton In 1893, his son, my g-g grandfather Josiah married. Johns occupation then was still boot closer. Josiahs adress is down as Hare Street Bethnal Green, so far chance that is the street they are on in 1891, as I havn't been able to find Josiah either. ( I can't work out how to or if you even can search an individual street?) Any help finding him/them much appreciated.
