Hi ,how do I find a tailors shop at Ilkeston abt 1930 ish .The name of the owner was Frederick John Nunn born 1882.His wife was Gertrude Nunn .No .325,Nottingham Road,Ilkeston,derbyshire.I am trying to find some sort of record? thanks,Suz. |

There will be a rates record held by the local authority. Might be library or might be records office for that date. I have very recently found out that the records office has planning applications up until quite a recent date. Not infallible but did prove useful to me for checking name of occupant. An elusive ancestor was trapped at last! Clive |

Suz What about local newspaper archives? The tailor's shop might have advertised. Your local library should have them. Or what about history books about Ilkeston? I have a great book about my town of Bolton which has some brillian photos of old shops in the town (not my gg gran's unfortunately but I live in hope!) Best of luck Maria |
