Would anyone be willing to look up the 1851 census for the following person for me? John Watson Henney born circa 1843 - so would be a child then aged about 8. thank you so much for this! Does it state on the census any hint of his middle name, as being Watson? That would surely seal it... I have no way of knowing if either of these are the person I am seeking - but I do think he was born in 1843. I would have assumed that his mother's maiden name might have been Watson - so I wonder if there is a way of checking out the marriage details for his parents to see if one of them comes up with maiden name Watson? Any advice appreciated.

It is definitely the John Henney who married Janet Watson - plus the names of their children are reflected further on down the generations which is always a clue. I now know where his parents came from and their ages -thanks so much! GlitterBaby, on the 1861 census - it says Kilbride - Bute as the county, I wonder does it say Isle of Arran at all? I do know he worked there at Brodick Castle and the family says his father was a groom there ... which again fits in with the other information discovered. I will have to register on Scotlands People and see if there is more info the more credits purchased.
