Oh Wendy .....I think OC letter is really good .... no questions or pressure on the person you send it to, but clear to get a reply for your peace of mind. Good luck Wendy |

Dear Mr Bloggs My name is Wendy Bloggs and I was born in Mudtown in 1961. If this name is significant to you, I would very much like to hear from you. I enclose a SAE. I would be very grateful if you would return this, empty if necessary, so that I know you have received it and do not want any contact. .............................. If you are sending a few of these, I would discreetly number the envelopes, just in case you DO get any empty ones back, although other people's experience on here shows that most respond with some kind of letter. And, a cheery-up thought: I have just met up with a cousin who has had no contact with her father for nearly 40 years. She contacted him last year and they are happily reunited - he was too ashamed and embarrassed to approach her first. OC |

Thanks for your advice. I know I should but its taken me 3 months to even have the courage to think about writing. It's a confidence thing I think ! |

Can anyone help me by giving me any ideas on how to construct a letter. I have not had contact with my father for 46 years and have no living relatives but do have birth details etc. I have been supplied with several addresses for his name which could be my father and would like to approach these people. The problem is I am unable to to come up with anything which seems appropriate in my mind as I don't want to frighten him off ! Help !! |
