Would say it was the orignal birth reg then the child was adopted. The name should be a clue |

It means the birth mother registered the birth and then the child was put up for adoption. An adopted child is then issued with a new certificate, a Certificate of Adoption, which they use for the rest of their lives as the rest of us use our birth certificates. Adoptive parents cannot register the BIRTH of the child (well, not legally that is), only the birth mother can do that. OC |

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend in the hope we can find out an answer. she has purchased a birth cert for one of her rellies and on it, it say Adopeted, written by the side of the Cert. Does this mean that the birth mother registered the babies birth and then put the baby up for adoption or does it mean the adoptive mother registered the birth? Any help really welcome. :-0) |
