Can anyone please tell me what the registration district is for BMD's for the Isle of Man, is it included on ancestry and does it appear in the census info under England or its own right? One part of my family are from there and Im having trouble finding any of the BMD stuff, but if they would have to come to the mainland to Liverpool, then my possibles could be correct. Im particuarily stuck on William Stowell and Helen Quine, Their children were born and registered in Manchester/Barton in the early 1920's but Im struggling to find a marriage for them either on a Manx BMD site I've found or on Ancestry. Thank you Rebecca |

Hi Rebecca, From the GENUKI webpage for the Isle of Man: ''Civil registration of marriages started in 1849, of births and deaths in 1878. The records are at the General Registry, Finch Road, Douglas, Isle of Man.'' The BMDs aren't on Ancestry unfortunately, which is a shame. The Isle of Man is a crown dependency and officially it's not part of the UK. Chris |
