I have a family in Kings Norton Worcestershire on the 1841 census with a boy whose name has been transcribed as ISDAS LUCAS. I can find no other trace of him than this entry, no birth, no death, no marriage. He does not appear with the family on the 1851 census. I have looked at the image, and would agree on the whole with the transcription, but have never come across this name before. Any suggestions, anyone, please? Curiosity is killing me! Thanks Rosemary |

Would suggest it is Isaac. The extension to the first 'a' is probably a blob on the page! |

Thanks Elaine! Maybe I should have asked for another brain instead - it looks so obvious now! |

Thanks Angela! I've just been looking at the IGI - and it's very tempting to think that this might be the same family. I've only looked at Worcestershire before, as Sophia's p.o.b. is always on the census as Tenbury, Worcs. Peter and Ann were both from Worcs too, according to the 1851. I think I'll hunt around a bit more - though, the 1841 census doesn't give relationship to Head of household, does it? So I can't be sure that Isaac was definitely Peter and Ann's son, anyway, can I? Aaaagh! Thank you for your help anyway! |
