Don't know if this is still the case but the National Archives used to have a statement on their site somewhere that they could not undertake searches but instead could give a list of profesional researchers for you to contact to work on your behalf. Have you tried putting a plea on the Records Office board here on GR? Someone may be going to TNA soon and willing to have a look for your document.

James, I received my grand-fathers nateurlisation documents from the NA just a few weeks ago, like you I had an HO number followed by numbers, It was followed by /4numbers/6numbers, I got all that information within my search, I then had to choose, how I wanted to receive them ie: paper copies ,fisch, or microfilm, I chose paper copies in Black and White, are the files your after actually available yet? as the ones I wanted have only been available since 1995, and the nateuralisation took place in 1922. If I was you id go back in to my search, and make sure you request ALL the documents relating to that file , that way you get loads of additional info, and not just a copy of the certificate, it cost me a total of £18.50, including postage and was a mine of information. Good luck. Nicky
