Reggie - thanks at moment Muscians Union page is unavailable so will try later. Alexandra - just tried that too - and found nothing - but as an employee would he be down as a passenger ? I was also thinking perhaps it was a cruise ship. But would like to thank you both for suggestions and if you can think of anything else would be greatful. Thanks again Mary xx |

Well - I've saved you a job - I had a look on findmypast but the only Bernard Stringers that sailed between 1910 and 1929 were either too young or too old. One aged 8 and one aged 53. STRINGER Bernard J 8 M 1923 from London to Australia Sydney STRINGER Bernard 53 M 1926 from London to USA New York |

You could always search the passenger lists on findmypast - you know what year it was so it will help narrow down the search! Good luck! |

My great aunt committed suicide in 1924 - she was a professional singer. According to the report which appeared in a Mitcham newspaper she had a younger brother Bernard ''Bernard Stringer her youngest brother and best pal as her father described him to an Advertiser representative on Tuesday is a cello player of unusual talent . Still in his teens he has recently been appointed an important position in an orchestra of a great liner and at the moment of his sister’s death was in mid ocean on his way to South America.'' - is there anyone who can help me or point me in the right direction to find out which ship and which orchestra he played with. Thanks in advance Mary |
