I agree, I wanted one from 1904 and it was not available, but I found an article in the local newspaper telling me the fella drowned himself while temporarily insane. Didn't tell me much, but at least I knew. Some local libraries (including the one I visited in person), will look at that kind of thing for you. Unlike me, taking a couple of hours to find it, they know what they are doing and could do it much faster. Good luck Margaret

Thanks Kathleen, I'll try this and see how I go. I am so surprised that legal records have not been kept! Will feed back if it works, Sue

Very few coroner's reports survive. You are more likely to find a report of the inquest in the local newspaper of the time. These are usually kept at the nearest library to the address. If you google....Malden Library.....there are two - the old one and the new one. They give email addresses but GR won't alow me to put them on here. If you tell the library you have the exact date of the inquest and that you are in Australia they will probably look up the report for you (some will and some won't). Kath. x

Can someone please tell me how to find a coroners report from Maldon Essex in 1908? I have the date but am in Oz and can't do local stuff. Is there somewhere I could write to as I don't imagine I could find this online. Thanks Sue N
