Deleating my Hot Matches?

Is there any way to collectivly delete 'Hot Matches' without having to read every single one of them and 'discarding' each one individually? I've ended up with about 23+ pages of unread Hot Matches. I'd like to get rid of this list and 'start again fresh'. The problem is, I find, is I'm researching really common names and have general place descriptions in my tree like London and Yorkshire. The automatic Hot Matches are endless and 9 and three quarters out of 10 totally useless! Any tips? C. H.

A very pertinent question - I have just realised that I have 92 pages of Hot Matches!!! Where do they save to if you save them and is there no way of sorting them? Maybe I'll take the advice of not having them sent!! Hazel

You can't get rid of the completely. then will only go into View Ignored Hot Matches

Another thing you can do if you have a really common name like John Smith, that you don't want matching, then make him into Johnx Smith or John Smithx, and hopefully you wont get any matches to that version of the name! OC

A better way is to delete your tree altogether, then you will never get any matches at all. It also stops anyone searching on your names, identifying any living persons you may have, sending you any contact messages or requesting to see your tree, whether or not they may have a connection or otherwise. It also stops tree collectors getting access to any of your names and adding them to their tree. Seriously though, why not just use it as another search tool, though it is only doing what you can already do yourself, that is search for names. One shortcoming, which is documented in the GR faq's is that there is no match on birthplace. This means that is you have a common name, as OH mentioned, you will get lots of potential matches which are not relevant.
