I read below with interest about a free trial to the Genealogist web-site. I'm a paid member to Ancestry.co.uk/.com , Family History Online and to this Genes site, but all info, I find, pre. 1800, are very limited. I need to get pre-census material. I'm ideally looking for a good reference site for U.K. records, moreover parish records, christenings, burials, b.m.d's .etc.. for 1650-1800, covering Worcester, Yorkshire and Middlesex. It seems most 'don't do' the complete Worcester and Yorkshire yet! It's so annoying! Any suggestions? C. H. |

You'll need to go to the actual county archive to see the full amount of material they have there. Alternatively you can order films of parish records from the Latter Day Saints at their Family History Centres. If you saw the vast, vast amount of stuff at the county archives you would realise why there is only a fraction of it on the internet at the moment. Lots more volunteers needed to transcribe stuff! Beware, also, of relying on stuff that is already on the interent. It cannot yet be complete and may send you along the wrong tree branch. Anne |

When I was researching my Wiltshire families I ended up buying copies of the parish records in book form from the WFHS online. I notice that Yorkshire also offer a similar facility - here's the website: www(.)yorkshireparishregisters(.)com (remove brackets) Might be well worth the small investment if you have lots to research in that area.
