Further to the message I recently posted about people putting living rellies on their trees the people I was referring to are me and my husband. I would never put any any other living people in my tree for all and sundry to view, either with or without permission. Some replies said I should not put living people on the site if I don`t want them used. Then can someone please tell me how to remove mine and my husband`s names from the site.? I can`t.because it`s our tree. I`m furious to find this morning in my Hot Matches that I`m there now in someone else`s tree. I still say that GR should make it really plain - loud and clear - that this is unacceptable without permission. Jay. |

Hi Helen I tried that, but me and hubby are still sitting thereon my tree. I`ve also tried doing it manually but that didn`t work either. I thought that maybe this is because the tree actually belongs to us as the users ot this site. I`m now denying access to anyone at all which is so sad but can someone tell me if there`s an easy way to share info with others from now on by copying the whole of the relevant part without typing it all out?Jay. |

GR make it quite clear that you cannot hide your own details.......look at the 'hide living relatives' section of the site. Reg |

Hi again, I`ve checked my account details again which I`s already ticked and it does say that you can hide other living rellies but not yourself. I suppose that`s why me and hubby are still sitting there, so I guess Reg is right. Tell me how you managed to get round it Helen, so I can try it too...lol ! Jay. |

GR do make it plain in the T'c and C's. ''Given the global nature of the World Wide Web, any posting, including but not limited to some or all of the family tree details and/or message board postings you input onto the Genes Reunited Service including any which contain personal information is accessible to be viewed by non-Member internet users around the world who access the relevant information by means of searches conducted through internet search engines and the like.'' and ''Please note that, if you make your tree available to other Members, they may take entries from your tree and put them into their tree (even if you do not wish them to). Genes Reunited does not have any liability in this event. However, you must always have permission to include any living individual’s details in your tree.'' GR will accept no responsibility for members actions, but will if asked, remove details of living persons who object to having them recorded. |
