I have been trying to find my GG's birth for over 18 months now, he was supposedly born in Strood Kent but became estranged from his family when he married my GGrandmother, the reason is unknown. All we know is 'the family came from Strood and my grandad is supposed to have visited there with his father when he was around 10 so we think the connection maybe correct. His father's name was George and he was in the Merchant Navy (from the marriage certificate), age on MC and DC both different but makes him as being born around 1881-1883? I now think perhaps his birth wasn't registered but does anyone know of any parish records available online for Strood so I could lookup baptism? He was married in a Catholic church and they were strict in those days so believe he was catholic Please help desperate. Dawn |

Dawn, just found this. Go to google and typein cityark, all one word. Click on the link at the top left of the page which says medway ancestors. From there you can go to a page which lists kent parishes, strood included, and you can view original images of the parish registers from Strood churches. |
