Help please!!! Been looking on bmd for birth of Frederick Walter Bird born abt 1862 in Clerkenwell, perents Catherine and William Bird. Can't seem to find him. Already have 1 wrong cert - . Dec qtr Clerkenwell 1b 530. Been advised births didn't have to be registered until after1875 so it's pos he wasn't!! Any suggestions on where else to look?

If you have searched the FULL records and not found it, you may have to accept that it wasn't registered. Have you tried the IGI for a baptism? Reg

Thats a thought, i sometimes find things on local BMD sites that dont seem to show on free BMD or Ancestry, i dont know why that is it just happens x

William I cant see a Frederick Bird born about 1862 with parents William & Catherine on the 1871 census, have you found them together on any census? Georgina.

Georgina Thats another funny thing about Fred!!!!He's not on 1871 census but on all the others!!! That will be my next challenge, to find out where he was hiding in 1871 (although I've only been looking on Ancestry so far and I now thats not 100% accurate!)

Thanks guys. Haven't tried local reg office or IGI baptisms, will do that tomorrow Wondered about visiting London Metropolitan Archives and seeing if I can find local parish records.

Seems like his siblings were registered around Clerkenwell/St Lukes so he should be too. Catherine's maiden name was Cox but he's not under that. Rose
