1861 census: Hawk St, Huddersfield Ellen Dyson B 1823 Huddersfield Children Joe age 17 Eliz A age 14 Mary E age 13 George H age 7 Joshua S age 4 What the heck does it say is Mary E's occupation, and if you can work it out what does it mean ? I'm going cross eyed !!!

Me too, i assume its something to do with the cloth industry but hwat the second word is i just cant make out Sharon x

these are all the old occupations with Bobbin in Bobbin Carrier Supplied the looms with bobbins in spinning and weaving Bobbin Ligger Placed the spools for spinning Bobbin Turner Made (lathe turned) the wooden bobbins used in the textile mills

I thought it looked like 'bobbin tackler' but that doesnt make much sense....were bobbins that dangerous !!!! lol
