Hi all, I had new information today that my grandfather worked two jobs during the WW2 and one of them was as a dock policeman (previously we were told railway policeman), does anyone know where I could get anymore information? Thanks.

Ann

Hi Summer Have you tried a google search for Dock Policemen WW2 + the area in which he worked? I just tried using 'history of dock policeman' in a search + came up with lots of sites .

Hi Ann, I have googled, but the trouble is that it's bringing up lots of irrelevant kinds of info about the dock museum. I emailed the man from the British Transport Police family history dept a long time ago and received no reply, but back then I'd been told he was a railway policemen. I think I'll try it again and see, I was worried that maybe the man didn't do the job anymore. Maybe I would be better to write snailmail then I know it will be picked up by the person doing the job now. I've emailed both the local records office and the Dock Museum, so we'll see if I get any luck there. I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere else to try, I asked first off because I wasn't sure if the docks came under BTP too, it seems they do though. Thanks, Liz

*bangs head* I just heard back from the records office and they've no record of there having been dock police in the town. It really does seem that someone doesn't want us to find info on this guy >.< Any advice? Liz

My ex was a dock ploiceman so I suggest you try the Port of London Authority. Kathlyn
