I have got about 300 rellies now in my tree and think its time I had a record of these people logged elsewhere. Havent tried to use the Gedcom download thingy yet. Does that just mean a file will be saved to my email should I was to download it using other software? Will my info stay where it is on GR or do I have to upload it again. Scared of doing anything just in case I make a hash of it!!

Hi Alison, I have FTM and it's brilliant. The duluxe edition comes with Pallots CDROM.....a real bonus. Go for it!!! Deb:) P.S You won't lose any info by using gedcom. Your tree stays intact on GR.

I'm looking at Family Tree Maker 2006 (Deluxe Edition) on Amazon for £29.98. Is this worthwhile?

That sounds a much better idea then. I have too much personal info on my tree and I would prefer to just have the bare info required to obtain hot matches. Thanks for help

Is there any way to copy one's GR tree, including reference/reminder notes. I've transferred my tree to FTM, but would like to have the notes also. Thanks, Brian

Just go to Import/Export tree and click on Export. It exports the tree, including the notes, to a gedcom file, which you can import into any family history program. In FTM I think you have to specify that you want to import notes when you import the gedcom.

A word of advice when it comes to Family Tree Maker - whilst it's an excellent program we've found it on sale at several different prices. The differences seem to be that subscriptions for various lengths of time to Ancestry.com are included, so if you already have this, you'll only want the basic program, but for a beginner just going into geneaology you might wanna consider the full deluxe version.

I've downloaded PAF but does anybody know whether you can put in the father of an illegitimate child plus all his family?!!!!!

Without spending on FTM, take a look at Tribal Pages website. I'll nudge the thread for you. Lin
