Hi, I've been looking for my Irish ancestors for ages and today I had a new lead. I found the family on the 1861 census living in Liverpool and they also had a son that I didn't know existed. His name is John Tuft and he was b.1842 in Ireland. After finding him on the 1861 census I've lost him! Can't find him afterwards at all. It states he was a cooper. Can't see a death for him either. Also he had a sister Elizabeth and as I'm having trouble with this family and she was born in Liverpool I thought I could get her birth certificate and find out mothers maiden name. Can't find a birth for her either. Only one I can find is Guildford Surrey. Any suggestions on these please? Thanks Maisy

I do know the rest of the family stayed in Liverpool. How could I be sure he's the correct one?

Looked for a marriage for John Toft and Frances but didn't find one until 1878. Did find them on 1881 census on Ancestry so maybe I'll send off for this marriage and hope for the best. Thanks for your help Maisy

Sorry. I failed. If you send for a marriage certificate, stress it has to have the father as John. If you send for it from the register office, they'll return your money if it is the incorrect one.
