Anyone been? Anyone know whereabouts in Hertford it is (easy to find, tucked up a side street blink and u miss it etc etc) What sort of info they have there specifically? Whether you need to take ID? We might be going this weekend. Anyone desperate for a lookup? |

I've never been but this is the address and phone number. You might be best to ring them and ask what ID you need (some places ask for two lots of ID) and if you need to book a film/fische reader. You might need change for lockers (some places don't like you taking bags etc into the research rooms) and printers. The entrance is on the left of County Hall Hertford part of the County Hall Complex but you need to park in the area designated for the Records Office and not the County Hall Car park, in which we parked! Take ID with you as you will need a CARN ticket. If busy you may need to book a fiche reader. Janet |

Hi,if your going by train its quiet a hike.Roughly 20-30 mins. It was up a steep for us and yes we had a map and still got lost, lol. The staff are really helpful. If you want to look at documents its best to order them first as they can take some time before you can view them.It depends how many others are using this service. We didn't take any lunch, thinking it would be near the town. However it wasn't near any shops at all so best to take some lunch. There is a drinks machine. All belongings need to go into a locker as well and off course the moblie needs to be turned off. Tina |

Hi Nicola I would really appreciate a quick look up while you're there. George WAREHAM. Died 10 May 1861. Someone years ago gave me a burial date of 18 Nov 1861 and I could not find his death cert for years. I'm assuming burial date is 18 May 1861 but would really like it verified. Details are - St Andrews, Hertford. 'Burials film 200 North Road Cemetry' (Grave: Row G1 no. 46.) Good luck with your research by the way. I remember being slightly nervous on my first visit to my local one - Kent - but the staff are lovely and the occasional squeal of delight when you find something is not frowned upon that much! Many thanks Jill - in Kent - if you need a lookup or two in Kent let me know so I can return the favour! |
