Help I have previously downloaded records from the 'net at a cost of £3.50 or there abouts, I am trying to do this for another member of my family tree and I can't find where to go. I thought it was on the National Archives site but can only find a place to get the medal details which I already have. Have things changed? There was a thread on here a week or so back and I think it said you have to go and physically collect the records but i KNOW i have down loaded them before?? Thanks for any pointers! Tina

Tina It's under the 'documents on-line' section on the national archives site but thats for the medals cards which are £3.50. No army records are available to download from there. There are some Army Pension records on Ancestry but I think it's just A to B at the moment. sheila

Sheila is right Tina. I've just had a look myself about an hour ago. Ancestry only have A-B. You might know I want C! ha ha Do let us know if you find them to download somewhere else. Pat

Thanks for the replies, unfortunatly I am after the letter W!!!!! Someone sent me a PM suggesting that I try vetrans-uk site. Have been on there and whilst seems easy enough to get records of service personel who were killed in action, records belonging to anyone who survived the war have to be applied for and proof of kinship is required by anyone wanting them. At least thats how I read it. I have definatley used Ancestry to get information on a female member of my tree who was in the WAAC, she didn't loose her life in the war in fact she died in the 1980's!! I did not have to prove who I was to get those, just pay my £3.50 to download. THAT was worth the money because I got 30 odd pages of stuff, right down to a report from her dentist stating that her dentures had now been fixed and in his opinion she was fit to go into the WAAC! Fasinating stuff,!

There are some kind of military records on what used to be 1837Online - FIndMyPast, I think it is now. It might not be the actual service records, though. Christine
