My g granddad Robert browning married Maria twitchings in 1851 and had 5 kids i think Maria died about 1880 odd.He went on to marry my g gran Annie wicks in 1888 bot in the 1891 cencus there are 3 teenages Amelia .Elizabeth and George all browning were they Annies children and changed thier sirname if so how do i find out? I have birth serts for an Amelia wicks whos farther was a Thomas wicks a gas fitter the same as Robert . Did Robert take on Annie and the kids. many thanks Paul browning.

	It is not unsual for step children to use step fathers name. It is perfectly legal to call yourself whatever you like. check the 1871 & 1891 census - see who is calling themselves what - what surname do they use when they marry? Give us some idea of location, and it can prob be worked out for you
