Hi all, Does anyone have access to a French BMD site, I am looking for a birth of Augustine Albertine Catherine in approx 1883, The surname Catherine is generally around the Calvados region. Many Thanks Jane |

You may have guessed that there is no site online equal to our Birth, marriage and death indexes. I have found that there are at least 5,380 Catherine birth, marriage or death events since 1890 in 42 departements in France but the centre appears to be, as you have mentioned, Calvados area. However, in order to get certificates or further information you really do need to know the place of birth and you then write to the Mayor of that town. I have found several Augustine Catherine but without the Albertine and dates that vary considerably from the one you have given - they are currently being researched. If you do not know the town of birth then the onl;y other possibility is that you write to the local Archive for Calvados area - that is in Caen and ask whether they are able to help you with your search. |
