Is it really true ? Have Ancestry now started charging to view images on bmds ?? Sorry but I think this is absolutely scandalous.... :(

Gosh, I didn't notice that! It's probably understandable though - all the other sites charge (except FreeBMD). They'll have felt they were missing out.

Why is it scandalous? They are a business, and, as such, have to cover their costs. Reg

Just seems that they have suddenly decided to make even more money out of people...they don't charge for how long ....now suddenly they need to.....fair enough....I'll not be using it any more out of principle.....off to the library ! :)

I don't think it is scandalous at all. Before Ancestry made the BMD's free for everyone I spent literally hundreds of pounds on 1837online (now findmypast) looking at BMD's. As I have a subscription to Ancestry I assume I will still be able to access BMD's. The cost of a subscription to Ancestry isn't that much when you realise how much information is on there and how much work they had to do to digitise the records. Kath. x

Yeah I know.... I suppose you just get used to having something then they take it away ! (or charge u!) I will miss it .... can't really afford to pay for those on top of everything else you pay for with this hobby !! Cheers Marie x
