If someone was in the regular army when the 1901 census was taken would they still have been registered and if so where? What age could a person join the army at that time? Pat |

i have a rellie that was in the army died in ww1 and he is registered in the 1901 census with his wife and children. |

They'd be on the census probably residing at a barracks. The age would be 17/18, although many young men bumped up their age so they could join. Deb:) |

In 1881 my grandfather joined the British Army in India when he was 14 years old he served in Egypt when he was 16./18 years old he was given a pension after 12 years service when he was 26 . Bren |
