Have you found him on the 1841 and 1851 census? He may have lied about his age in order to get into the army. Sam x |

hi i wonder if anyone can helpme find my g grandfathers birth,he was born in oakham leicstershire around 1840 he states on entry to the army in 1858 that he was 19yrs of age but ive searched bmd and can find no trace of his birth.is anyone able to do a look up in parish records for me i would be so grateful,his name is robert stapleton born in the parish of greetham rutland.his fathers name was john stapleton occupation a baker.would be glad of any info thanks again ruth |
