Are you sure it doesn't say Mitford & L. which would be Mitford and Launditch in Norfolk. I think the '& L' was only on early indexes. Kath. x

Mitford &c district was in Norfolk. The list of places covered is far too long to add here. Check genuki website for all and any registration district info. 'The district Mitford &c is an alternative name for Mitford and it is in the county of Norfolk; ' Reg

When you order certificates, you can specify who, on a birth for example, the parents should be. If the details don't match, then you will probably get all your money back if you order from a local office, or about half if you order from GRO!

I thought I had a name that was a little different, Jemima Roberts. She had a daughter in 1849 but she is not on the 1851 census so I looked for, and found, a likely candidate...... wrong. My Jemima should have been about 35, the death cert I received said that that Jemima was 60. I also found a likely candidate for the daughter, Charlotte, right time, right place....wrong again, the parents I was looking for was Robert and Jemima, the parents on the cert I received were Benjamin and Isabella............... I have found another Jemima Roberts death by I do not know where the registration district is...it says, Mitford &c. Any ideas very much appreciated. .Oh well, back to the drawing board. Kathlyn
