Yes I think I am fortunate with my local library. Not only can I go into Oakham but also the Mobile Library Van comes to my village. Also they have a good web site where you can reserve books on line (I managed to find a fairly obscure local history book for a magificent charge of 50p) and the web site also lists all the holdings in the library and has links to other genealogical sites. Tomorrow I am going to look at Church Records on Micro-fiche for someone I met through GRU. Jennifer

You are obviously very fortunate....my local 'main' library staff are as unhelpful as it's possible to be when genealogy is mentioned. Reg

Hi anyone wanting to access the NBI should try their local library. I'm doing some local research for someone and was amazed and a bit ashamed that I had never actually bothered to find out what holdings were in the library. I'm not talking a huge city library but a small market town library. They also have IGI fiches, parish records back to 1550 on fiche and many other things. Jennifer
