well hewing is digging out like a coal miner. Its not listed on old occupations site but found this The Miner who produced the coal (Coal Hewer) Also found this :-According to the return 'coal miner' was not a sufficient description, and the authorities required 'coal hewer' to be inserted as the occupation of a man Shirley |
