Hi Just wondered if anyone could shed any light as to why I have found two marriage entries in the BMD indexes but for different years, for my Great Grandparents: 1. Jul, Aug, Sep 1901 Joseph Whitaker married Lily An Hartley West Derby 8b 767 2. Jul, Aug, Sep 1903 Joseph Whitaker married Lily Ann Hartley Prescot 8b 1247 I suppose they could be two different couples who conincidentally share the same names and live in the same general area, but I don't think so? Are there any reasons do you think for these two entries? |

Catherine the only way to check if they are the same people is to get both marriage certificates & see if their fathers names & occupations are the same. Georgina. |

Hi Georgina I think you're right, I suppose I am just feeling mean today. Instinctively I think the 1901 entry might be the 'right' one, but if I don't see the 1903 copy I will be forever wondering whether it is connected in anyway. There are so many certificates I would like to order but it is just sooooo expensive. Thanks for your reply. Catherine |
