Hi Just wondered if anyone could shed any light as to why I have found two marriage entries in the BMD indexes but for different years, for my Great Grandparents: 1. Jul, Aug, Sep 1901 Joseph Whitaker married Lily An Hartley West Derby 8b 767 2. Jul, Aug, Sep 1903 Joseph Whitaker married Lily Ann Hartley Prescot 8b 1247 I suppose they could be two different couples who conincidentally share the same names and live in the same general area, but I don't think so? Are there any reasons do you think for these two entries?

Catherine the only way to check if they are the same people is to get both marriage certificates & see if their fathers names & occupations are the same. Georgina.

Hi Georgina I think you're right, I suppose I am just feeling mean today. Instinctively I think the 1901 entry might be the 'right' one, but if I don't see the 1903 copy I will be forever wondering whether it is connected in anyway. There are so many certificates I would like to order but it is just sooooo expensive. Thanks for your reply. Catherine
