Problems with Ancestry

Michelle Genes is a place to match up ancestors with others and get help for people willing to do look ups Ancestry holds all the census, bmd's and various other records along with message boards. I guess the biggest thing is that you pay so much more for Ancestry but then you get so much more. Sheila

Go for it Martin, it's worth every penny. Just be prepared for a lot of late nights, or rather - early mornings, 'cos it's addictive! But cheaper in the long run. — Tom

A subscription to Ancestry is well worth the money (less than the price of a pint or a magazine a week). I wouldn't have anywhere near as much information without it. Yes, there are still people willing to do look-ups for you, but one by one the more experienced researchers are leaving this site (see O.C.'s post on Records Office Board), so having Ancestry and learning to use it yourself will be well worth it. Personally I couldn't live without Ancestry and I think it is worth the money. It's not just the census and bmd's (yes to that question) but all the other little things that keep being added on. Sheila

I guess i can understand that, people are paying a subscription fee and others are viewing half of the info for free it's not really fair on the paying people. Is the £79.95 subscirption worth it?? does it give you access to all BMD and census' any feed back would be great before i part with my dough (yes i'm a true yorkshireman who wont spend if he's doesn't have too) lol I know there are kind people on here who will carry out searches for you, however it's not the same as doing the detective work yourself. I've been signed in for over 2 years now (but never subscribed) and have been able to use the search facilities upto 1915ish all the time however as i've tried today it is telling me to subscribe to view any search results??? Is this a new thing for Ancestry or just a problem with todays??? any none subscribers having same problem?? Martin
