why would a solicitor ?

Sign as informant on death cert with qualification..... causes the body to be cremated..this was in 1987 regards bunny

Maybe the deceased had no family nearby, - or none at all. The solicitor could have been executor of the Will and so would deal with all matters of documentation and arrangements. Gwyn

I don't think so.. I googled the name & got one hit.....it was a list of people who had died & solicitors where trying to find next of kin...( not my rellie) The firm of solicitors still exists in worthing, but the man who signed the cert is not on their web site.. Regards Bunny

Hi Gwen thats what i thought but wasn't sure !!! This rellie was my aunt, who has taken me years to find as my mother only ever mentioned her by her nick name Joey and i now find out it was Marguerite Amy !!!! Thank you Regards Bunny

The person 'causing a body to be buried' (or cremated) makes themself legally responsible for paying the funeral expenses. In this case, this would fit exactly with Gwen's suggestion that the Solicitor was her Executor.. OC
