ok here goes i just hope someone can help. i have been stck at this wall for ages and now ive even started my mum off. My GrandFather was born Clifford Douglous JONES (you now see my problem). I Have his birth cert, he was born 14/11/1918, Wigan. He had two sisters (got all certs for these). His mother was Hannah robinson she married a Rimmer in 1904 & became a widow in 1911 (leaveing 1 son, Thomas Rimmer) also have all these certs. On my GF birth cert his dad is down as Frederick Jones (this was registered by the mum) on both my GF sisters birth certs (reg by dad) his name is down as Thomas Frederick Jones. My prob is i cant find ANY record on a marriage between my GF mum and dad. Have tried her maiden name, her 1st married name, tried both names for him. Because the name is so popular i cant move on anywhere as i cant be sure of any match for my GF dad. Any help or advice on where i can go or what i can do would be great. Thank you in advance. Have you looked past the date of the childrens births for the marriage? Or they may have never married. Was Thomas/Fred in the WW1 do you know? What occupation does he give on the birth cert. |

Ok my grandfather was born 1918, on his cert his father thomas jones is a Marine store dealer (rag & bone man i think!), On his sitster mauds cert 1920 hes got the same job, on Lily's cert born 1924 hes a fruit & fish hawker. When he died in 1926 (aged 67) he was a rag gatherer (sp). I have searched from 1911, when she became a widow, to 1926 when he died but no match for a wedding, if they didnt marry am i stuffed???? Not sure about ww1 as he would have been in his mid 50's! |

Have you tried marrying off Hannah RIMMER to someone else then trying to find a marriage in THAT surname to Thomas / Frederick? This was the solution when I couldn't find a marriage. I hadn't bargained on the bride marrying yet again between known marriages. You have a gap of 7 years for known happenings for Hannah. Gwyn |
