I had my DNA done a long time ago. No secrets and all my cousins on there that had it done. Mum was adopted. Husband never knew his father as he was adopted by his mothers parents. Never knew who his father was. My granddaughter has done her DNA as her nan was Italian and grandad was German. Italian all there no German. Recently she has had a English name come up as a first cousin 2nd time removed. Wondering if this is something to do with my husband although not in the area but not far maybe 2 miles? What is a first cousin twice removed ?

You need to consider that the English name may come through her ‘other’ parent, unless that parent is 100% ‘foreign’.

Also work out the difference in ages between your granddaughter and the match, as this match could just be a couple of generations older ( unlikely to be younger)

Twice removed first cousin is two generations away from the subject

I have delved again today. The person is a first cousin to my daughter. We have another match from ages ago from another family in the same area from the same birth area but not a first cousin. Think we are getting closer

A first cousin means that the parents are siblings so a good chance that thus is your husbands family if they don’t fit in anywhere else.
