British Subject??

Quick question: A member of the household (the wife) I'm interested in is recorded as "Nationality: British Subject" where none of the other family members have a nationality recorded at all. Does this mean she's from a family in the British Empire as opposed to the UK itself? (She's born in 1872, and the census in question is the 1911 one.) |

Ahh, thanks Julia! I thought it was a bit funny because her maiden name is Harrison. Makes a bit more sense if there was a similar kind of situation. Cheers! |
