A gedcom is a copy of your tree you can only move it from one tree program to another, you cannot read it in between. |

Actually it is a text file so it can be read by text file readers such as Wordpad. It contains recognisable names and phrases, tags which are usually fairly obvious and mysterious numbers which are more difficult to decode. You certainly do need a family tree program to decipher it properly. |
