What could be confusing you is this.

When click on the link on the email from GR notifying you about the message, the message opens in a new window.

If you already have GR open, then the white envelope next to Messages stays there until you have moved around the site a bit.

Confused? You will be! lol

Thank you Elizabeth and I put the blame on Gr.

My apologies to GR

(from another Elizabeth)

It is Ancestry that prints out the message in its notifying email - though you have to go to the Ancestry messages page to answer it.

Thanks RamblingRose after my reply to you, the mauve envelope was still unopened, although the message did not show on the email.
Maybe this is what confused me.

I thought I had read the answer on the email from GR. It must be another site that it happens. I was so sure it was here, I contacted GR hoping if they stopped doing it that way, more mauve envelopes would be opened, as yet I have had no reply they obviously didn't know what I was talking about.
Although Elizabeth said yes?
Would someone be kind enough to send me a private message just to test it, not that I don't believe you, It might just happen to me.
Many thanks for your answers

If you 'click to read the reply' in your message from GR it will take you direct to the message, in a new window.

When someone replies to a message you sent them can you read the answer in the email that GR sends you to say you have a reply.
ie you don't have to open the mauve envelope to read it.
Thanks in advance for your answer
