Maybe theyy parted company? She has an unusual surname (though might be maher?) and can find no evidence of children after 1911:

I've found his probate and he died 1940 leaving probate to a Jessie Young, spinster, so Laura must have died by then or they parted.

I saw the marriage but was unsure
