Hi everyone, many thanks, Its such a shame that parents names were not on marriages then. This family has been really hard, Sarah died before 1841 census, and Rippingale in 1844 so all I know is that he was born in Essex. As I said the parish chest was stolen from the church early 1800 and all registers were lost back more then 100 years, so there is no way Im going to find anything that way. No Bishops Transcripts either. oh well maybe something will turn up. many thanks for your help regards Chrys. |

Unless you can find them on the IGI, it will mean a visit to the Records Office and a trawl through the parish records - something lots of us need to do eventually. |

Hi Brummiejan, you have the right family. the actual image shows his name correctly. unfortunatly Sarah died in 1838 so i have no dea where she was born. I have found a bap for a Sarah Ester Moore 1790, in St Saviour Southwark Surrey, but cant be sure if its right, I have looked for any siblings for same parents, but had no luck. just dont know how to get over problem. Sarahs age was given as 48 on death cert. many thanks for your help regards Chrys. |

Thank you for your help I did wonder as I have others with no father but didnt need the name. The marriage is between Rippingale Collar and Sarah Moore, St George the Martyr Southwark, 10 February 1824. Image says both of this parish, but Rippingale was born in Essex so he must have been living in area. Witnesses are Rich Bell and Ann Lee. I am unable to definetly establish who both sets of parents were. Parish records for Rippingales family were stolen from church in 1803, so makes my job really hard. regards Chrys. |

1824 was pre-registration so it will be down to the whim of the Vicar conducting the ceremony as to what information was recorded, other than the bride and grooms details. Some did record fathers, but many did not. |

Father's names were not shown until registration started in 1837. |
