Have you asked people on here to have a look just in case we can find her? IGP is right, you have to be really careful - I have ancestors where another family matches almost 100% for names and birthplaces for example. So easy to go astray. |

Interesting theories but be careful not to get too carried away without any hard facts. Not to say that you shouldn't explore all possibilities but do keep an open mind until you can find more conclusive proof. |

Don´t know where all this took place, but as Eleanor/Martha was working as a servant, it´s possible that her employer didn´t approve of a servant having a "posh" name & made her answer to Martha,or maybe their previous servant was called Martha & they couldn´t be bothered to remember a new name. |
